Gareth Bate first came to 401 Richmond as the recipient of the the 2007 "401 Richmond Career-Launcher Prize" given to one Ontario College of Art & Design graduating student every year. The prize is a free studio for one year. Since then Gareth has moved to studio S17 in the basement orange section where he created "Gareth Bate Art Projects" a studio which periodically houses project based exhibitions.

Since 1970, Open Studio has dedicated itself to the production, preservation and promotion of contemporary, original fine art prints. We are a comprehensive, artist-run, non-profit charitable organization that provides multi-faceted services, programs and information to artists and the general public. Our 7,400 square foot facility houses 3 galleries, an active print sales department and through our facility rental program, the Studio provides artists with an expansive and well-equiped studio with production facilities and equipment for relief, intaglio, screenprinting and lithography (including photo-based processes). Open Studio also provides basic computer equipment.
Workshops & courses in printmaking are offered 3 times per year, beginning in October, February and May and are specifically designed for adults with all levels of experience.

The Centre for Indigenous Theatre is a training institution with a mandate to develop Native theatre professionals. In 1974, the late James Buller founded Native Theatre School. This original program was created based on his belief that with a viable Aboriginal theatre school in place Aboriginal actors, playwrights and directors would have a forum for exploration and exchange, and that the results of this exchange would have a measurable impact on the Aboriginal Theatre community.
In 1994, The Centre for Indigenous Theatre was born and in 1998, the program expanded to include a one-year, full time, post-secondary training program. Today, CIT offers a Full-Time, three-year program and two introductory summer programs that bring together classical theatre training and traditional teachings to support and enrich our voices through, self-exploration, song, story and performance.

Faustwork Mask Theater creates exquisite masks and compelling performances, inspiring audiences of all ages at performing arts centers, corporate events, schools and festivals throughout North America. Since 1983, Faustwork has traveled throughout Canada and the U.S., Australia, Hong Kong, Italy and Germany.
Robert Faust, native New Orleanian, is the founder and artistic director of Faustwork Mask Theater. Mr. Faust designs and creates all the masks used in Faustwork shows, which include The Mask Messenger, Faustwork In Concert, Voice of the Wood, and Carnival Knowledge.
Mr. Faust has also performed and choreographed with Pilobolus Dance Theater, Martha Clarke, Mangrove, Jules Feiffer, and the Paul Winter Consort. His sculptures and masks are sometimes seen in galleries, and have been commissioned by the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco, Pilobolus, Momix, Harvard University, The Paul Winter Consort, and David Kirk/ Callaway Editions, Inc.

Inside Out Toronto LGBT Film and Video Festival (Studio 219)
IInside Out is a not-for-profit registered charity that exists to challenge attitudes and change lives through the promotion, production and exhibition of film and video by and about lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBT) people of all ages, races and abilities. This year Inside Out is celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the annual Toronto LGBT Film and Video Festival. Currently the largest event of its kind in Canada the Festival entertains film buffs of all stripes, showcasing the best and most diverse work that is of interest to LGBT communities. Over 11 days, the Festival draws crowds of 35,000 to screenings, artist talks, panel discussions, installations and parties that highlight more than 250 films and videos from Canada and around the world.
The 20th Anniversary Festival takes place from May 20 to 30, 2010.

Since 1968, the Wildlands League has positively affected over 4 million hectares in the province of Ontario. Our work has led to the establishment of major wilderness protection zones and nature reserves, stopped logging in Quetico, Killarney and Lake Superior Provincial Parks, increased the protection of old growth forests, wildlife habitat, water sources and other forest values outside of parks by changing logging practices.
To do this work we employee three strategies:
1. Protect the Land.
2. Reduce the footprint of industrial practices. 3. Plan for Conservation.
Innovation, partnership and practical solutions are our tools for delivering conservation. We work with a wide range of interests, including First Nations, resource companies, government, communities and other environmental organizations to shape creative and sustainable solutions to important conservation issues.

I am presently at the helm of the Attack Media Group, an independent media company signing emerging artists along with film & DVD content internationally. Attack's music publishing division is 50% owned by one of the world's largest independent music publishers, Cherry Lane Music (Black Eyed Peas, John Legend, The Passion of the Christ, Elvis Presley, John Denver). Our music can be heard on MTV, ESPN, Dawson's Creek, America's Most Wanted, Roswell and many more along with films such as Poolhall Junkies (Chrisopher Walken), Harvard Man (Sarah Michelle Geller), the controversial urban Gang Tapes, the upcoming Jimmy & Judy starring Edward Furlong (The Terminator) & Rachael Bella (The Ring) and The Making of The Matrix Reloaded to name a few. Attack's most recent success is the Kanye West produced Malik Yusef album, which can be heard on the hit MTV soundtrack, Coach Carter starring Samuel L. Jackson.
I am the executive producer of Graffiti Television and recently completed executive producing The Writing on the Wall, a 90-minute documentary on Graffiti.
My latest venture includes www.attacktrax.com, an interactive website for filmmakers & music supervisors to easily source music for any film, television show, radio/tv commercial or DVD project.
Every few months I hit the road with my Lecture & Workshop series to speak at some of the most prestigious universities, colleges and technical schools in the world like OIART (Ontario Institute of Audio Recording Technology) and Seneca College talking about my position as producer/engineer/A&R scout combined with my role as president/CEO of a fledgling media company.
I am also a speaker and moderator of choice at many of the worlds most distinguished music conferences like China AV 2006/07 (Shanghai), The Industry Connection (2006 - Milwaukee), CMW 2005 (Canadian Music Week - Toronto), Cutting Edge (2005/06/07 - New Orleans), NXNE (North by Northeast - Toronto), Music West (Vancouver), New Music Seminar (NYC), Australian Music Conference (Sydney) and the Millennium Music Conference (Harrisburg, PA).

Matching sound to picture is a craft that we hold and take very seriously. Living by the motto that "good sound is invisible", as most people don't even realize that creating sound for picture is even its own craft (once the camera starts rolling the sound somehow magically happens). On the contrary - it is a very powerful force in how we take in information and it must be done properly. It's such an important role that even one small choice can change the entire way your viewers perceive your production. (A more obvious example is if the end scene to your sad love story has circus music playing, you've got a problem.)

Fado Performance Inc. is a non-profit artist-run centre for performance art based in Toronto, Canada.
Fado began in 1993 as a non-profit collective of performance artists. The organization was officially incorporated as an artist-run centre in January 2001 under the care of founder Paul Couillard. Our activities include presenting performances, artist talks, festivals, residencies, exchanges and workshops, as well as publishing in a variety of formats, including video.
Fado was established to provide a stable, ongoing, supportive forum for creating and presenting performance art. Currently, we are the only artist-run centre in English Canada devoted specifically to this form. We recognize that performance art as a practice has multiple histories and encompasses various regional, cultural, political and aesthetic differences. Fado defines performance in relation to the root elements of the medium -- time, space, the performer's body and the relationship between performer and audience. We are most interested in works that are innovative in their use of one or more of these elements, including those that are multi-disciplinary. We focus on artists who have chosen performance art as a primary medium to create and communicate provocative new images and new perspectives.
We showcase the work of Canadian and international performance artists, presenting high-quality events featuring artists at all stages of their careers from varied backgrounds within carefully considered curatorial contexts. We further general knowledge and critical perspectives toward performance art by creating opportunities for local artists and audiences to view works by artists from other regions and countries. We also sponsor residencies, workshops, artist talks, symposia, publications, exchanges or other projects that enhance understanding, encourage dialogue, provide new skills and experience, and expand performance opportunities for Canadian performance artists. The Images Festival's mandate is to present and promote excellence in independent film, video and other time-based media; to expand the definitions of media art and art in general; and to expand the audience for this work. -To host an annual Canadian festival of independent media art that includes an international component and is considered a major cultural event in this country;
-To ensure that media artworks from all regions of Canada are well represented;
-To raise the profile of independent media art in order to develop an educated and appreciative audience for the Canadian media arts;

Media artworks produced by Canadian independent artists are seldom available through commercial media outlets such as television, commercial movie theatres, industry-oriented film festivals, etcetera. This is unsurprising, as the work of these artists is often conceived in opposition to the conventions, ideological assumptions, aesthetic and technical standards of commercial media production. A great deal of Canadian independent work produced is technically accomplished, interesting, and accessible. However, because media artists do not produce work that fits within the narrow mandate of commercial media, they have fewer opportunities to connect with their potential audience; the question is one of access, both economic and cultural. SAVAC (South Asian Visual Arts Centre) is the only Toronto-based, artist-run, nonprofit organization dedicated to the development and presentation of new works in contemporary visual art by artists of South Asian* origin. SAVAC does not have a permanent gallery. As a collective, we produce exhibitions, an international lecture series, and educational projects in collaboration with artist-run-centres, museums, educational institutions and community organizations to integrate South Asian artists in the contemporary art sector.
