401 Richmond: Building

The 401 Richmond Update Newsletter is a way for us to spread the word about our vibrant tenant community to other tenants and a wider network across Toronto and beyond. Initiated in June 1994, the publication documents the eclectic activities and fascinating people who comprise our arts-friendly historic warehouse in downtown Toronto.

Since September 2005 the Update newsletter is printed by Warren's Waterless Printing, the only dedicated waterless printer in Canada. “Waterless” printing removes the need for water in the printing process (conserving an estimated 66,000 to 78,000 litres of fresh water annually), reduces the release of volatile organic compounds into the air, and eliminates contaminated water waste. We also print on to 100% post-consumer recycled paper from a mill in Quebec. This mill uses a chlorine-free process to produce the paper (meaning they can recycle water using 80% less than conventional paper manufacturing), and is powered electrically from the biogas that is recovered from landfill gases.
